Sahibganj, Jharkhand – An 18-year-old man from Sahibganj district tragically drowned after attempting a daring jump into a quarry lake from a height of approximately 100 feet to create an Instagram reel, police reported on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when Tausif, the deceased, leaped from the height into deep water. Despite efforts by his friends who were in the lake, they were unable to save him. The friends immediately alerted local residents and the police, prompting a search operation. Later, authorities recovered Tausif’s body from the lake.

A video capturing the tragic event has since gone viral on social media platforms. It shows Tausif making the jump while his friend records the stunt. The video starkly reveals that soon after hitting the water and attempting to swim, Tausif began to struggle and ultimately drowned.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Kushwaha explained that Tausif lost control upon hitting the deep water and was unable to stay afloat, leading to his drowning.

This incident underscores the dangers of performing risky stunts for social media content, highlighting the potential fatal consequences of such actions.
