In a recent statement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused the Congress party of advocating for the rights of minorities to consume beef, which he equated to endorsing cow slaughter.
Addressing a rally in Bilari, Moradabad district, Adityanath expressed vehement opposition to the alleged stance of the Congress, emphasizing the cultural significance of cows in Indian society. He condemned the notion of granting minorities the freedom to choose their dietary preferences, asserting that such a policy would effectively condone the slaughter of cows, regarded as sacred in many communities.
“The shamelessness of these individuals is appalling. They openly promise to uphold the right to consume ‘gaumaans’ (cow’s meat), disregarding the reverence our scriptures attribute to the cow as a mother figure. Their intent is to deliver cows into the hands of butchers. Will India ever embrace such an idea?” Adityanath proclaimed, as quoted by a statement from the Uttar Pradesh BJP.
Adityanath further linked the purported beef controversy to broader accusations against the Congress, alleging that the party aims to redistribute wealth and resources to specific demographic groups, including Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators. He cited instances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speeches and the Congress manifesto to support his claims.
“The Congress manifesto hints at a policy to conduct X-ray examinations of people’s property, implying that individuals may be compelled to relinquish a portion of their homes and personal belongings. Additionally, they propose to seize women’s jewelry. Such proposals are unacceptable to the nation,” Adityanath asserted.
Highlighting past instances during the UPA government’s tenure, Adityanath accused the Congress of attempting to implement quotas and reservations based on religious affiliations, particularly referencing the Sachar Committee recommendations.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also accused the Congress of fostering divisive agendas and questioned the sincerity of their recent expressions of religious sentiments, particularly regarding Ayodhya and the worship of Lord Ram.
“Inconsistencies in their stance are evident. Individuals who previously questioned the existence of Lord Ram are now contemplating visits to Ayodhya. Such double standards are emblematic of their opportunistic approach,” Adityanath remarked.
He concluded by urging voters to scrutinize the commitment of political parties to nationalistic ideals, cautioning against supporting those who hesitate to affirm patriotic slogans such as ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.
As political rhetoric intensifies ahead of upcoming elections, controversies surrounding religious and cultural sensitivities continue to fuel debates across the political landscape.
