Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh: Police and Excise officials have seized liquor valued at approximately Rs 6.30 crore from ten trucks in separate incidents in Jhabua district. The alcohol was being illegally transported to Gujarat and the Union Territories of Daman and Diu.

In the first incident, a police team acting on a tip-off searched a truck at a dhaba in Kalia village, located along the Indore-Ahmedabad highway, on Tuesday. The truck, registered in Rajasthan, was found carrying 1,300 boxes of liquor worth Rs 1.46 crore. The truck driver and another individual attempted to flee but were apprehended by the police. The truck was seized, and further legal proceedings are underway.

In another operation, the Excise Department intercepted nine truckloads of liquor at the Pitol toll plaza on the Madhya Pradesh-Gujarat border. The trucks were carrying 11,180 boxes of liquor valued at Rs 4.87 crore, destined for Silvassa, Daman, and Diu. The transportation permit for the liquor, issued to a distillery in Gwalior, had expired.
