Pune Police have arrested Vishal Agarwal, a real estate developer, in connection with the tragic accident involving his 17-year-old son. The incident, which occurred in Pune, saw the minor crashing his Porsche into a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Agarwal was apprehended in the early hours of Tuesday in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar area.

Following the accident, an FIR was lodged against Vishal Agarwal, prompting him to make immediate plans to evade capture.

To mislead authorities, Agarwal orchestrated an elaborate escape. He initially drove his usual car towards Mumbai with his driver, while sending two other cars towards Goa and Kolhapur to create confusion. Agarwal misled his family about his whereabouts, claiming to be headed to Mumbai.

To further avoid tracking, Agarwal switched off his primary phone and began using a new number. Despite these efforts, his movements were eventually traced through the GPS of a friend’s car, which he used to travel to various locations, including his farmhouse in Daund and properties in Pune.

Pune Crime Branch teams employed technical surveillance and GPS tracking to locate Agarwal. They analyzed CCTV footage and intercepted messages he sent to his family. Ultimately, they found him hiding in a small lodge in Sambhajinagar.

The tragic accident occurred when Agarwal’s 17-year-old son, who had consumed alcohol at two bars, crashed his Porsche into a motorcycle in the early hours of Sunday. The crash resulted in the deaths of two techies, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. Ashwini died on the spot, while Aneesh succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to a hospital.

The teenager was granted bail by a district court within 14 hours of his detention, sparking widespread outrage. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the teenager and his friends first partied at Cozy Bar from 9:30 pm to midnight before moving to Black Bar, where they partied from midnight until 1 am on Sunday, shortly before the fatal crash.

In response to the public outcry, the police have stated their intention to seek permission from a higher court to try the teenager involved in the accident as an adult.
