In the midst of a simmering controversy surrounding the alleged misbehavior of Bibhav Kumar, a personal assistant to Arvind Kejriwal, recent developments have fueled the debate further. Kumar, who was reportedly involved in an incident with AAP MP Swati Maliwal, was seen accompanying the Delhi Chief Minister at Lucknow airport late last night. The presence of Sanjay Singh, another AAP Rajya Sabha MP, alongside Kejriwal has added another layer of intrigue to the situation.
Kejriwal’s visit to Lucknow is scheduled to include a joint press conference with Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday, May 16. The timing of Kumar’s appearance alongside the Chief Minister has raised eyebrows, especially in light of recent events.
Earlier this week, Sanjay Singh acknowledged the alleged misconduct by Bibhav Kumar towards Swati Maliwal at Kejriwal’s official residence and assured that strict action would be taken. However, the lack of immediate action and Kejriwal’s subsequent appearance with Kumar has fueled criticism from opposition parties, particularly the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In response, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took to social media to express condemnation, implying that Kejriwal’s association with Kumar suggests complicity in the incident. Poonawalla’s statement drew parallels to historical events, likening the situation to the infamous episode of Draupadi’s disrobing from the Mahabharata. He accused Kejriwal of protecting Kumar and asserted that the attack on Swati Maliwal was orchestrated with Kejriwal’s knowledge.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Singh’s visit to Swati Maliwal’s residence, coupled with AAP leaders’ refusal to disclose details, indicates internal efforts to address the fallout from the controversy. The meeting is viewed as an attempt to appease Maliwal, a longstanding member of the AAP, amidst escalating tensions within the party.
As the situation continues to unfold, the spotlight remains on Kejriwal and the AAP, with calls for transparency and accountability growing louder from opposition quarters.
