Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a significant promise during a rally in Bihar’s Sitamarhi, stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will construct a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita in the region.
Asserting the BJP’s commitment to the project, Shah emphasized that the party is not swayed by “vote bank” considerations. He hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in building the Ram temple in Ayodhya and expressed confidence in the BJP’s ability to construct a magnificent memorial at Sita’s birthplace.

According to Hindu mythology, Sitamarhi holds historical significance as the birthplace of Sita, the consort of Lord Ram. Shah’s announcement of the temple construction comes in the wake of PM Modi’s participation in the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya earlier this year.
The rally in Sitamarhi precedes the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, scheduled for May 20. Shah used the platform to criticize Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad, accusing him of opportunistic politics and aligning with the Congress party to promote his son’s candidacy for Chief Minister.
Highlighting the BJP’s focus on development, Shah contrasted it with the alleged misrule of previous regimes. He underscored the need for progress and stability in Bihar, emphasizing the importance of “vikasraj” (the rule of development) over “jungleraj” (lawlessness).
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a landslide victory in Bihar during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, winning 39 out of 40 seats in the state.
