Massive Fire and Explosion at Chemical Factory

The initial reports indicate that four boilers at the Amber Chemical Company exploded, causing a massive fire. The explosion was so intense that it led to the bursting of chemical drums, which in turn shattered the factory’s window panes. The explosion not only caused significant damage within the factory premises but also impacted the surrounding area.

Impact on Surrounding Areas

The fire spread rapidly to nearby houses, causing damage to residential properties. The force of the explosion and the subsequent fire led to a chaotic scene, with residents experiencing the aftermath firsthand.

Sumedh Joshi, a resident living about a mile from the factory, recounted the terrifying experience: “First, we thought it was an earthquake, the way our building was shaking. Our window panes shattered due to the blast, and we quickly came out of our building.”

Emergency Response

The fire brigade and rescue teams were promptly dispatched to the scene. A total of 20 fire brigades and 15 ambulances were involved in the rescue operations. Firefighting efforts are still ongoing as emergency teams work tirelessly to contain the blaze and rescue those trapped under the debris.

Casualties and Injuries

So far, the explosion and fire have resulted in the deaths of five individuals, with 92 others injured. Many of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, receiving urgent medical attention. The disaster response team is continuing their efforts to rescue several individuals trapped underneath the rubble of the collapsed factory building.

Statements from Officials

Police officer Ashutosh Dumbare, speaking to Reuters, confirmed the ongoing investigation into the cause of the explosion. “We are investigating the reason behind the explosion,” Dumbare said, adding that the rescue operations might continue until the following morning due to the extent of the destruction and the number of people trapped.
