Following an incident where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal was allegedly mistreated at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, her former husband, Naveen Jaihind, has called for the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against Kejriwal. This demand comes after the AAP acknowledged that Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, behaved inappropriately with Maliwal during a visit to the CM’s house.
Jaihind insisted that since the incident occurred at Kejriwal’s residence, an FIR should be lodged against him. Despite two distress calls received by Delhi Police claiming that Maliwal had been assaulted at Kejriwal’s residence, Maliwal did not file a complaint when she visited the police station following the incident.
Jaihind expressed concern for Maliwal’s safety, alleging threats and questioning the silence of authorities such as the Union Home Ministry, Delhi government, and the National Commission for Women (NCW). The NCW has demanded an “action-taken” report from Delhi Police within 72 hours and initiated an inquiry into the matter. AAP leader Sanjay Singh condemned the incident and assured that Kejriwal would take strict action.
